BOATS of all shapes and sizes will tackle a double length of Windermere on Sunday, June 8, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
South Windermere Sailing Club has organised the 21-mile race to Waterhead and back from its headquarters at Fell Foot.
In past years there has been a strong fleet ranging from single-handed sailing dinghies to cruisers, with finishing times ranging from three hours to seven hours or more depending upon the conditions.
The race is an open event so all sailors are encouraged to take up the challenge for prizes donated by The Lakeside Hotel, Windermere Lake Cruises, The Aquarium of the Lakes, The Lakeside to Haverthwaite Railway and Goacher Sails.
Anyone interested in taking part should contact the sailing secretary Chris Jukes on 01229-584 740.
