PARENTS have spoken movingly of their life-loving' son who has died following a car accident in Morecambe.

Steven Gordon Owen, 18, of Hasty Brow Road, Slyne, was driving with three passengers when his Peugeot 206 collided with a lamp post on Central Drive last Wednesday evening.

The youngsters were trapped in the car for 40 minutes before being freed while fire crews secured the post, which was badly damaged by the impact.

Masses of flowers have since been laid at the scene. where groups of young people have also gathered to pay tribute to a popular and well-loved boy'.

"We will remember him most for being such a very happy person. You always knew when he was in the house as he had a very buoyant spirit - and I am sure his friends will remember him like that also," says his mum Lynette.

"He was very loving and kind, with not one bad bone in his body. Often he would just walk past and give me a kiss," she adds.

Steven, a sixth form student at Our Lady's RC High School, was planning to do an art foundation course and then go to university.

"Steven worked very hard but loved life and lived it to the full. He was really into music and liked to keep fit. He went to Liquid every weekend and was very much looking forward to this summer after his exams," adds his dad, Gordon.

Steven picked his new car up on May 1 and Lynette says he was over the moon', because it was a special 2004 edition, adding; "He was obsessed by cars and was using transport as his theme for his art course."

Steven never regained consciousness and died on Monday at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Joseph Adams, 18, of Bowerham Road, Lancaster, Michelle Douglas, 16, of Walton Avenue, Morecambe and Jane Chadwick, 17, of Essington Avenue, Morecambe, were discharged from RLI last week.

Steven's parents say there has been a constant stream of sup-port from family and friendssince the accident and said it was very comforting to see his friends going to the hospital and sitting in the corridor.

Gordon and Lynette would welcome anyone who knew Steven at his funeral on Monday at St Christopher's Church, Bare, at 2pm.
