FACING strong opposition in the second round of the Cumbria Diddy League, Troutbeck Bridge swimmers put in a series of sterling efforts.

Troutbeck's 9-year squad gave a good account in the Kendal Leisure Centre races and the girls 4x25m medley relay team of Megan Callingham, Francesca Cutalo, Seina Townley and Vicki Edgar snatched third place in an exciting finish.

The boys also acquitted themselves well and in the 4x25m freestyle relay, the squad of Carl Slater, James Nicholson, Jake Sargeant and Adam Whitehead finished fourth.

In the remaining relays, Mathew Kaye, Max Merrick, Emma Budge and James Santamera joined these swimmers to complete the programme with some great efforts,

At 10-years, Corinne Bryson produced a fine swim to be fourth in a personal-best. She combined with Sophie Wyness, Bethan Thursby and Emily Jeffs for another fourth in the 4x25m backstroke relay.

Emily Jamieson joined them to support a block of events which produced another crop of personal-bests.

The boys squad of Harry Frith, Joshua Horsman, Joe Thompson, Jack Sagar and Jonathan Knox produced solid swims to help build the points total.

Katharine Milligan led Troutbeck's 11-year group performances with a creditable third and a personal-best in the girls 50m freestyle.

Oliver Merrick (butterfly) and Chris Presso-Morgan (freestyle) both set individual personal-bests and were joined by Cara Callingham, Charlotte Ford, Tashi Sherpa and Alex Robertshaw in the relays where they all performed up to standard.

Joshua Murphy made a solo trip to Copeland for a Graded Gala and entered five events.

While not among the medals, he broke his personal-best for the 100m individual medley with a new mark of 1min 25.03sec.
