PRINCE Andrew will open a new Top of the World exhibition in the Eden valley in the wake of the 50th anniversary of the first summit of Everest.
Two members of the 1953 conquering expedition, George Lowe and Mike Westmacott, will take the Duke of York around the Rheged display.
The visit on Tuesday, June 10, marks British Tourism Day, which will see nine members of the Royal Family taking part in tourist visits.
Prince Andrew will also drop into Ambleside Youth Hostel and see some of the activities on offer. He is to be given family membership of the YHA and be told of plans to provide ground floor disabled facilities.
Members of Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team will be presented to the Duke of York.
During lunch at an inn near Ambleside he will meet tourism representatives.
Chief Executive of Cumbria Tourist Board Chris Collier said the visit was a welcome recognition of the importance of tourism in Cumbria.
