Come racing this August Bank Holiday and experience the razzmatazz that is Cartmel Steeplechases. This meeting will be the last at Cartmel for 2003 and will take place on Saturday 23rd and Monday 25th (Bank Holiday) August.
For those who have experienced the magic of Cartmel at first hand, it is difficult to image that, for 360 days of the year, Cartmel Racecourse is little more than a meadow beside Cartmel village, but on race days, it takes on the mantle of a mini Cheltenham or Aintree. To contrast the picturesque setting and surrounding fells of Cartmel, many more attractions make racing
at Cartmel more than a day at the races. Attractions include: a large fairground, specialist trade stalls, bars and food outlets, betting facilities and plenty of space for picnicking for those preferring life at a slower pace.
Cartmel allows racegoers to get closer to the action than anywhere else in the UK, offering many unique vantage points to watch the racing.
Badges for the meeting start from £7 (concessions for seniors) and can be purchased in advance by telephoning 0151 522 2929. Gates open on each race day at 10am and race organisers advise getting into the racecourse early to avoid holiday traffic in the area. Racing starts from 2pm on each raceday.
Accompanied children aged 16 and under are free. Car parking is free for cars and coaches in the Course Enclosure (£5 in the Paddock).
