A PROGRAMME of walks to encourage people to stretch their legs has been launched in Ulverston.
The Ramblers Association has set up Walking Out, a programme of fortnightly weekend walks that run until July 12.
They all start and end at Ulverston Library on Kings Road and range from three-miles to eight-miles in distance.
The next walk is on Saturday June 14 and is the most ambitious one on the programme. After catching the bus at 11.25am from Ulverston to Coniston people will do an eight-mile walk from Tiberthwaite to Ambleside, via Elterwater. Taking the bus from Elterwater to Ambleside can shorten the walk. People will arrive back in Ulverston on the 6.30pm bus. It costs £3.50 for adults and £1.50 for children.
The walk on Saturday, June 28, is from Gawthwaite back to Ulverston, along the Cumbria Way. The bus to Gawthwaite leaves from outside the library at 12.55pm. The cost is £1.05 for adults and 75p for children.
The last stroll on the programme on Saturday, July 12, is a three-mile walk exploring the footpaths around The Hoad in Ulverston. Walkers have to meet at the library at 1.30pm.
The Ramblers Association said the pace of all the walks was gentle and that there would be several stops for refreshment.
