Citizens can have their say on the controversial topic of genetically modified crops at upcoming meetings or over the Internet.

GM Nation?, a six-week public debate on the issue, includes regional and local public meetings to find out grass roots opinions on this hot topic.

Eight consumer and environmental groups have formed an alliance and launched the debate so the public could have a say on future government decisions about the UK's GM farming strategy.

The alliance includes the Consumers' Association, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, National Federation of Women's Institutes, National Trust, the RSPB, Sustain and Unison.

A government decision is expected later this year about licensing GM crops.
