THE Cumbrian Fellbred meat brand is to be stocked in Tesco stores at Carlisle, Blackpool, Chorley and Horwich.
Cumbrian Fellbred, which sources meat only from within the county, stocked the Tesco stores in Barrow and Whitehaven for a 12-week trial period last year. Thanks to the success of that venture the supermarket giant plans to introduce the brand in a new Tesco due to open in Penrith in 2005 as well as at the other stores.
Following the introduction of Fellbred in September last year, the Tesco store in Barrow has been short-listed for the Meat Trades Journal Super Meat Awards for providing quality local produce.
