Carnforth is set to host a competition, which will see finely dressed men from around the country praising the Lake District at the top of their voices.
The Town Criers Inter Counties Competition will be held in the town tomorrow (Saturday, June 7) and contestants will have to deliver a self-penned piece about Lakeland as they compete for the Lancashire Cup.
Host Frank Barton and wife June, of Carnforth, were even expecting visitors from new twin town Sailly-sur-la-Lys, in France. He said: "I think they will be amazed."
The criers will be judged on volume, clarity, diction, inflection and dignity. There is another prize for best uniform.
The fun starts with a parade at 11am, followed by the first heat of the competition at 11.30am. The Lancashire Life Morecambe Band will give a display at 12.30pm and the second heat takes place at 2.15pm. The event winds up with a prize presentation at 3.30pm.
