EVER felt the need to plug that dry stone wall gap? Get more than gringo in your lingo? Or find your chi spot?
A new adult learning centre may help you do just that, reports Andy Bloxham.
Dry stone wall repair, Spanish, and t'ai chi are just three of the topics on offer at the Sedbergh Community Development Centre (CDC), which opens next Tuesday.
The centre boasts high-speed broadband Internet access, a 12-computer training suite, a data projector and interactive whiteboard, with full disabled access.
The CDC primarily aims to boost information technology education in south east Cumbria by providing free single-session courses starting in June and July.
The centre will be operated by Cumbria Community Regeneration through Education and Information Technology Skills (CREDITS), in association with the two neighbouring
schools.
Next Tuesday, the centre will host an open day from 3pm to 8pm, with opportunities to meet tutors and learn about courses. The formal opening ceremony will take place at 3.45pm.
The centre is on the site of the old head teacher's cottage between Sedbergh Primary School and Settlebeck High School.
