A FURNESS yachtsman is sailing away from his farm renovation project over the winter for a sunnier venture offering Caribbean sail boat charters.

John Holmes is in the midst of bringing a derelict 17th century barn back to life at Brow Edge, Backbarrow.

But as winter draws in, he has decided to go to his 60ft yacht Lulotte with his West Indian wife. The couple have offered Caribbean charters aboard the boat before but this year they are also offering to arrange island weddings in picturesque churches.

"We got married ourselves in Trinidad in a beautiful old church right up on a mountain. It's so much easier to organise things out there with much less bureaucracy," said Mr Holmes, a former hotelier.

Afterwards, newly-weds can do some island hopping aboard Mr Holmes's yacht or enjoy a hotel stay set up through his contacts.
