WORK is under way on the final phase of the River Lune Millennium Park project.
It will see a section of the old railway from Aldcliffe to Glasson Dock become more accessible for walkers and cyclists.
The scheme is part of a £21.6 million Lancashire Remade' project to give people an opportunity to enjoy the Lune estuary.
Guy Kenyon, prog-amme manager at Lancashire County Council, says: "This project was a special challenge because we wanted to create a high-quality path that could be shared by cyclists, walkers and horse riders and which blended in with its surroundings and protected the important wildlife habitats."
He goes on: "It is also a difficult site, because being a old railway line it is long and narrow with limited access."
The path should be open again by Christmas.
