THREE green-thinking councils are joining forces to encourage householders to think twice when it comes to putting out the bin-bags, and rev-up recycling efforts.

With a new radio campaign and more recycling banks destined for the area, South Lakeland District Council, along with Barrow Borough Council and Lancaster City Council, are hoping members of the public will pull out all the stops as well as old plastic containers, empty glass bottles and unwanted clothes to do their bit for the environment and cut back on landfill refuse. Already thousands of homes across the South Lakes and Furness have helped to recycle more than 26,000 tonnes of waste, and with plans to roll out recycling services to more householders over the coming months, councilors are confident that will rise.
