A £100,000 Christmas present has been awarded to Cumbria's young people.
Cumbria Community Foundation has been given the extra cash to fund projects which benefit under 19-year-olds across the county.
The money comes from the government's Local Network Fund and is available because other areas underspent their allocation. Usually the foundation is given £350,000 to spend in a year.
Examples of South Lakeland groups who have benefited from the LNF in the past are Sedbergh Scouts who went to a EuroJam' and Grange Youth Social Club, which allows young bands to get together, rehearse and perform.
Groups which would like to apply for the money should act quickly as the next round of grant allocations will be in the New Year.
People should call the foundation on 01900-825760 to find out exactly what sort of projects are available.
