SOUTH Lakeland camp-aigning group Esthwaite Green Link is calling on people to voice their views over the question of radioactive waste storage.
The Government has set up the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management to look at the options for managing the UK's radioactive waste and to come up with a long-term solution that will protect people and the environment.
As part of the process, the group wants to hear as much feedback as possible on 11 key criteria and three possible solutions from members of the public.
Esthwaite Green Link has arranged two open meetings at Hawkshead Market Hall on the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, December 14, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, when people can voice their opinions.
EGL secretary Paul Milling said: "With Sellafield as one of the obvious candidates for long-term storage we feel that the opportunity for people to have their say is important. The results have to be back by the end of December and we have arranged two meetings to give as many people as possible the chance to comment.
"As facilitators we will be taking a neutral positions in the discussion, whatever our own views."
Any group wishing to host their own discussion should call CoRWM on 020-8683-6602 as soon as possible.
