AS A resident of Ullswater Road, I am concerned that Lancaster City engineers are proposing a residents' only parking scheme to include Park Square, Park Road, Davidson Road, Hartington Street, Bond Street, Moor Lane, East Road and Bath Street, but has failed to include Ullswater Road.
Many residents are not aware of this because the city council is under no obligation to consult us, even though its plans effect us in a negative way.
The residents on Ullswater Road have already suffered a huge loss of kerb parking space due to the imposition of an unimaginative and inferior traffic calming scheme. As a direct consequence, we are now having to spill over into other side streets in order to park.
Many park on Park Road, Moorgate and Bath Street because they cannot park on their own street but if the proposed residents' only plan is passed there will be increased congestion because residents' will have no choice but to park in the remaining streets of Freehold.
It really is shameful that the city council lacks imagination and thought when it comes to parking issues and seems to be in favour of introducing residents' schemes merely to increase revenue.
Andrew Killiner, Lancaster.
