WAS Cllr Hanson serious in her letter about making the Maritime Museum into flats? Could anything be more bizarre?
The Maritime Museum has been treasured for centuries as a fine historic building with a fascinating past. Apart from this, it must be a listed building and conversion into flats would be totally out of place.
If there is one good reason that Morecambe and Lancaster should have separate and distinct councils this is it. They are a totally different town and city and should be respected as such.
I also agree with Jim Capstick that the Town Hall should be left as it is. This idea of building a new one in Morecambe is just a step to placate Morecambe.
Why build another new and expensive town hall with all the higher costs to the council tax payer when you have a perfectly good one that only needs repair. It sounds like madness to me.
R. Anderson, Lancaster.
