THIRTY new jobs are to be created in Morecambe after insurance giants AXA won the contract to underwrite Lloyds TSB's travel insurance.
The deal kicks in on February 1 next year and as a result AXA will be creating the 30 jobs in its travel claims teams and 40 temporary positions in its customer service team in Morecambe.
Christine Matthews of AXA says: "We are delighted to have won the Lloyds TSB Insurance travel account. This is great news for the team in Morecambe and testament to their work and commitment.
"We look forward to working with Lloyds TSB to enhance the value of their business and deliver a service to their customers.
"This really cements our position in Morecambe reflecting the existing strengths of our centre.
"Together with our household claims teams we will now have more than 200 people managing claims in the town confirming our place as the largest financial services employer in Morecambe."
The Morecambe based company shed 155 jobs in 2004.
