SOUTH Lakeland Chrysler and Jeep dealership ES Hartley is warning motorists to take care on the roads during this winter's predicted harsh weather.
Waterlogged or icy roads can cause even experienced drivers to temporarily lose control of their vehicle or skid, resulting in an 18 per cent rise in the number of accidents that occur over the colder months.
Neil Worrall, dealer principal at the Ings-based dealership, said in-car technology to help prevent dangerous situations was now available.
"Statistics show that 60 per cent of all fatal accidents in Europe are due to skidding, so having a skid control system like ESP should be a top priority when buying a new car.
"Adding a skid control system like ESP also means that once you have traction you can keep on the straight and narrow and brake much more effectively in all conditions."
Plus added to roadside aid RENAULT'S breakdown recovery service Four for Free has been extended for vehicles to provide customers with an extra year's free roadside assistance.
The service is available for owners of Renault vehicles under seven-years-old who book their car in for an MOT at Kendal's Benfield dealership on Mintsfeet Road.
The dealership will then register the customer for the extra year's Renault Roadside Assistance a package which provides breakdown cover to motorists.
Ten day sale...
DRIVERS on the hunt for a new motor could catch a good deal at Hargreaves Vauxhall in Kendal in a special ten-day sale which ends on Sunday, November 27. Included in the sale are the Corsa Life and the range of Breeze special editions.
