I AM shocked with the announcement that our Labour led cabinet wants to sell off Morecambe Town Hall, especially after a report earlier this year said both Town Hall's were safe.
This is the only civic building left in Morecambe, and is the last piece of our heritage. Town Halls belong to the people and it is the public, not politicians who should decide on their future.
The engineers' department at Morecambe has just been refitted at a cost in the region of £700,000. That would be money down the drain if it were sold.
It also seems too much of a coincidence that this news comes a week after enormous support was shown by the people of Morecambe to form their own council.
Cllr Tony Wade, Westgate.
