A KENDAL businessman and 450 of his pint-sized regulars are preparing to fight plans to paint yellow lines near his fun factory, which he claims could cause him to close.

Owner of Fun For Kids Andrew Kaye said his indoor play area could soon be not so fun for kids if parking restrictions near his Parkside Road business get the go ahead.

Mr Kaye, who has run the play centre for ten years, fears proposals for double yellow lines will make if difficult for parents to park.

"I've been here for a decade, and I want to be here for another decade," said father-of-six Mr Kaye. "But if this goes ahead it is likely to put me out of business."

The businessman has collected 450 signatures objecting to the lines, which he submitted to Cumbria County Council.

"Realistically I can squeeze about 11 into my car park, so if they put the yellow lines down my customers will have to either park at the Park nightclub which means young children would have to cross a busy road twice to get here or at the K Village overflow car park, which may not be allowed for long if plans for K Village happen."

The decision on the parking restrictions will be made by Cumbria County Council's South Lakes local committee in December.

Spokesman for CCC Justin Hawkins said the authority was considering double yellow lines due to safety concerns over children being in close proximity to the many delivery vehicles that also use the small industrial estate where Fun For Kids is based.
