A BOWNESS lifestyle shop has been named as one of the top shops in the country by a style magazine.
The English Home singled out Maguire Metcalfe on Lake Road for praise in its list of 100 favourite rural shops in Britain, nominated by the monthly magazine's readers.
It described the outlet as "the Lake District's answer to anyone who thinks good shops are only to be found in London a delightful mix of covetable items, from quirky tea dresses to crystal door handles."
Maguire Metcalfe was the only shop in Cumbria to feature in the top 100 list, and its owners, Helen Metcalfe and Glynis Maguire, said they were delighted to gain the recognition.
