FORMER Crosby Ravensworth Primary school and Appleby Grammar School student Chloe Wilcox, 18, has been chosen to represent England in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Chloe, from reagill, who spent this summer working as a lifeguard at Shap swimming pool, is one of 13 players selected for the England water polo squad.
Chloe has represented her country in the junior and senior women's squads before, but says being chosen for next year's Games is the pinnacle of her career so far.
She said: "It is really brilliant and hasn't really sunk in yet."
Water polo will feature at a Commonwealth tournament in Perth two months before the main Games get under way at Melbourne. Chloe is currently training more than 16 hours a week at the Aquatic Centre, Manchester, with Great Britain coach Nick Hume, while taking her A-levels at the city's Xaverian College.
Chloe's parents, Margaret and Mark Wilcox, and her brothers Adam, Joe and Sam, have encouraged her to play the sport and are delighted she has been picked for Australia.
