RUGBY: Without a league fixture because of the Powergen Cup, Upper Eden played a friendly' with Chrichton at Pennine Park on Saturday and ran out 45-0 winners.
Moving the ball well, they threatened Crichton's line with nearly every attack and scored six tries in the first half alone through left winger Simon Alderson, flanker Andy Kerr, front row Nigel Martin, Johnny Whitehead and Micky Longrigg. Fly-half Colin Mbongwa added four conversions for a 38-0 half-time lead.
Crichton had a greater share of the second half but Eden tackled well and the only try was scored by Phil Sinclair, converted by Mbongwa.
This weekend, Eden host St Benedict's in a vital North Lancs/Cumbria League fixture while the Boars are away to Windermere A.
