MORE Music in Morecambe is preparing to light up the resort's West End - with its second annual lantern festival.
Lantern processions have a long history in China, Japan and across Europe to celebrate religious festivals and mark significant milestones in the year.
And Morecambe will join in on Wednesday, December 7, when hundreds of local people are expected to come out to mark the beginning of the festive season.
Lanterns made from willow and tissue will be created by children at local primary schools and at Messy Gang' workshops planned at the Hothouse on Saturdays November 12. 19 and 26 and December 3 from 1pm to 3pm.
The workshops will aim to provide local people with an opportunity to learn new skills in a creative environment - and everyone is welcome.
The free Messy Gang sessions are run in partnership with the Adult College as part of its family learning programme and are free. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
