LANCASTER district is expected to fall silent on Friday at 11am - as local people take time out to remember the fallen.
City Mayor Cllr Joyce Taylor will lead a reflection in the Garden of Remembrance at Lancaster Town Hall.
She will be joined by council staff and members of the public as they pause to reflect at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month..
Cllr Taylor says: "We all have our own thoughts at this time, but by uniting together we can demonstrate that we are not yet prepared to forget the devastation and loss sustained by our country during both World Wars and other conflicts such as the Gulf War and the War in Iraq.
"We can also unite to reflect on more recent events, such as the London Bombings, and the consequences of these on our lives."
Remembrance Services on Sunday that will allow people to pay their respects to those who perished in war are as follows -.
Lancaster: Garden of Remembrance, Town Hall, Lancaster, starting at 10.35am.
Morecambe: Cenotaph, Marine Road, starting at 10.45am Carnforth: Parade will leave the Carnforth council iffices at 10.35am for a service and wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph.
