BOWERHAM won the Lancaster Independent Ladies Darts and Dominoes Challenge Cup Final after a thrilling success over the Rose Tavern.

Bowerham won the toss and Sam Holl won the first singles game against Cheryl Taylor, while Sue Winterbottom and Anne Wardlow took the opening dominoes match against Maureen Wren and Joyce Baldwin.

But the Rose, a second division side, fought back to level the match at 4-4 thanks to Kath Reid and Sybil Atkinson.

Bowerham's Gail Holl hit 132 but was stunned by young Sam Taylor, who hit her double with her first dart, but Gill Winterbottom had more luck after throwing 105 on her way to beating Anne Marie Dixon.

Norma Headley beat Julie McCaulie, while Holl and Winterbottom edged out the mother and daughter Taylor team to make it 7-7.

Cheryl Taylor and Emma Jackson put the Rose in front before the match was tied 9-9 going into the final dominoes match.

Holl and Winterbottom were up against Sharon Plowdon and McCaulie and they shared the first two legs meaning it all went down to the last game. It was tight and tense in the final match with the Bowerham pair managing to win 11-10 and claim the crown thanks to a count-up.

To add to Bowerham's night, Wardlaw was the lucky raffle winner and claimed the prize of a facial sauna.
