OFFICERS have sent out a call for the return of yellow cones on a "no questions asked" basis after a large number have gone missing.
Every year dozens of no waiting' cones go missing whilst left out for events costing the police a large amount of money the cones cost £9 each.
Some cones are thrown over walls into fields, rivers and gardens others are taken prisoner' by individuals who keep them for their own use.
Sgt Jo Fawcett of Sedbergh Police is appealing for anyone with these cones in their possession to take part in a cone amnesty starting on Friday and running until December 5.
Anyone with a cone to return is asked to drop them off at their local police station. An amnesty run two years ago recovered 65 cones throughout Kendal and the Lakes.
