A PUMPKIN fit for a ten tonne Cinderella is taking pride of place outside an Ambleside eatery.
Weighing in at 50 stone, it took eight people to shift the gargantuan gourd, which is now lurking outside The Priest Hole, at Ambleside.
Passers-by who can buy seeds from the pumpkin and grow their own gigantic vegetable could be forgiven for thinking they had stepped into a scene from Woody Allen film Sleeper, where a man wakes from a 200-year sleep to find fields full of giant vegetables.
According to the owner of the Lake District eatery Gary Mickelfield, the menacing orange monster has been causing quite a stir. "People seem to love it," he said. "The Americans have really taken to it, they're all getting their picture taken with it and kids love it too."
Now it looks like pumpkin with everything could be dish of the day for some time to come at The Priest Hole.
"There's definitely going to be pumpkin pie and pumpkin soup on the menu for a while," laughed Mr Mickelfield.
