AN INITIATIVE to clean up Bassenthwaite Lake and get people involved in protecting it for the future has secured more than £1.9 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The money will support 18 projects pitched at protecting the landscape and improving the water quality of the Lake District's shallowest lake.
Projects include planting woodland to reduce erosion, creating a wetland nature reserve and building hides.
