WALK this way is the call from a Lancaster charity as it gets ready for a major fund-raiser.
CancerCare North Lancs, which has its headquarters in Slyne, is looking for thrill-seeking locals to join a trek along part of the Great Wall of China.
The adventure will not take place until October next year but CancerCare needs people to register now in order to get fit for the trek and raise sponsorship cash.
One of the great wonders of the world, the Great Wall is the only man-made structure on Earth that is visible from the moon.
It stretches 4,500 miles from the Gobi Desert to the mountains of Korea and Cancercare is to stage a five-day adventure as part of a longer trip that begins and ends in the exciting city of Beijing.
With stunning scenery, this adventure will also give walkers a fantastic insight into an ancient culture with a group of like-minded people from the local area a real life-changing experience, says CancerCare spokesman Helen Hartin.
To take part, adventurers must pledge to raise a minimum of £2,700. After the costs have been taken out, the remaining proceeds of almost than £1,500 per person - will go to Cancercare to provide funds to enable it to continue supporting the needs of cancer patients and their families in the community.
Last year CancerCare supported more than 1,200 people and offered some 14,000 therapy sessions free of charge at its two centres in Lancaster and Kendal. The cost of providing services was more than £661,000.
Anyone who is interested in taking up the Great Wall challenge can get more information from Helen Hartin on 01524-381820.
