CITIZEN Smith and Alan Dean (Letters, October 12) seem to be part of a group of people who think that all motorists are angels and all cyclists are the spawn of the devil.
If you want to see law breaking and bad behaviour just watch the motorists bad parking which cracks pavements, jumping red lights, speeding and killing innocent pedestrians to mention just a few.
No cyclist has ever demolished a section of Skerton bridge, for example.
There is one simple fact that these people should remember cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders have the right to use the highway, car drivers have to be regulated and pay for the privilege.
And anyway, why do cyclists use the footpaths? It is because of their sheer fear of going on the roads.
Finally, for Mr Dean's information, the by-law which banned cycling on the promenade at Morecambe was withdrawn years ago. The local cycle strategy now shows the prom as an official cycle route.
