Vale of Lune 24 Liverpool St helens 0 VALEof Lune hit back immediately following their home defeat at the hands of Caldy with an emphatic victory against Liverpool St Helens in North Two West.
And for the second time this season they prevented the opposition from scoring.
Vale's pack quickly gained the upper hand and established a strong platform for a lively back division to exploit, but the home side had to wait until midway through the first half before registering the first score.
Aggressive play from John Bleasdale forced an error which allowed flying winger James Curran to outpace the cover for an unconverted try.
A well worked try from a line-out completed the first half scoring. Matthew Speight claimed the ball and Ian Bird sliced through the middle before releasing man of the match Kevin Gardner for a try converted by Andrew Garnett with eight minutes of the half remaining.
Early in the second half the Vale forwards rumbled their way to the line with hooker Phil Watson claiming a well worked unconverted try.
Playing with authority, the home side was able to introduce a number of replacements but the tempo remained high as LSH struggled to break out of their own half.
Gardner scored the final try with a powerful burst through the heart of the visitor's defence, Garnett adding the conversion to end a workmanlike performance from a confident Vale who face a testing away fixture at Rochdale on Saturday.
