A series of workshops designed to help sports clubs across South Lakeland gain an accredited quality mark have been organised for the coming months.
South Lakeland District Council's sport and recreation team are to host three workshops for clubs which wish to gain the Sport England accreditation, Clubmark.
The mark acts as a seal of approval and demonstrates to other clubs and people wanting to join that a particular group is a safe, effective working sports club.
The team opted to provide the free training in good practice and child protection, coaching disabled performers and equity in coaching, after updating the directory of sports clubs in the area.
More than 150 clubs have now registered and provided details about their club such as the number of members and when and where they practice.
Anyone interested in attending any of the workshops or who would like more information about gaining Clubmark should contact SLDC's sports development officer Lorna Postlethwaite on 01539 733333.
