COME and support us - we are well worth it.
That's the message coming from Lancaster City chairman Steve Johnstone and manager Phil Wilson as the Dolly Blues look for a crowd worthy of their stylish football when they play Moor Green on Saturday.
City, with the best set of youngsters for many a year, are turning heads in the Nationwide Conference North with their blend of sharp, attacking play.
That was illustrated at Hyde United on Saturday when they came back from 2-0 down to win 4-2 - and now Johnstone is taking to the streets to drum up support.
The chairman will be in Lancaster city centre dishing out flyers for half price entry into Giant Axe for the clash with the Brummies - and Wilson is delighted.
"It's a great effort from Steve," Wilson tells the Citizen.
"It shows a great commitment to the club and I hope it attracts a good few extra people through the gates.
"We are playing well and it would be good for the lads if more fans were inside the ground."
The magnificent Dolly Blues are ready to roll back into Giant Axe on Saturday on the back of their best comeback in recent times at Hyde.
Losing 2-0 inside 30 minutes and with Iain Swan stretchered off, City appeared to be heading for defeat.
But they bounced back to win 4-2 after Wilson turned half-time tinkerman to push three men into attack.
"I thought that we needed a little more up front because Hyde were beatable - and it worked really well," smiles the manager.
"It was not the best of starts to the game but we came back really well and I would hope for more of the same on Saturday."
Swan is likely to be absent after damaging his knee but there is good defensive news for Wilson after Stuart Howson pledged his future to the club.
Howson, who was linked with Kendal Town a fortnight ago, was a target for Radcliffe Borough and was mulling over a move to the wealthy Manchester club.
"I had a good lomg chat with Stuart and he wants to stay with us," adds Wilson.
"And that is good news."
