With national concerns over children's declining levels of physical activity, The Ramblers' Association (RA) is tackling the problem head on with a programme of regular led walks targeting families.
According to the RA, recent research shows half of 11 16 year olds only walk 10 minutes a day.
The Association has launched a campaign to get everyone out walking, especially during this half term. Walks are geared towards the whole family and advice is provided on how to make it an exciting event.
Visit Lakes Guide Walking and Cycling section (link below) on www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk for full details on the RA's walks with links to their website.
There is also information on more challenging walks from Striding Edge and safety advice.
