DRIVERS scooting down bus lanes in an bid to beat the traffic are being targeted.
Lancaster police are clamping down on drivers in the Skerton area.
So far motorists have only been stopped and warned about their behaviour when spotted in bus lanes.
But now, after a string of complaints from locals, motorists are to be handed £30 penalty fines, say police.
Police Community Support Officer Olive Bradley says: "The use of bus lanes by motorists is a real concern for local people and we have acted on those concerns. We spoke to a number of drivers this week and gave them advice but we will be going back in the future and handing out penalties to those we see.''
