LANCASTER'S water polo team made club history by winning the British National Championships for a third consecutive season at the Manchester Aquatic Centre.
Lancaster went into the weekend as underdogs, being without three key international players who featured in the team that won the National League title just before Christmas.
The team faced tough games in both semi-final and final matches - Bristol were beaten Saturday in the semi-final and then Rotherham in the final on Sunday when Lancaster won 7-4.
Many pundits were predicting success for Rotherham, coached by National team coach Norman Leighton. But they under-estimated the determination and abilities of Lancaster.
Neil Bowers produced one of his best ever displays for the club, firing in five of Lancaster's seven goals in the final.
Man mountain Dave Bush also produced a one on one save early in the fourth quarter and followed this up with a penalty save a couple of minutes later to ensure Lancaster kept control.
Lancaster had beaten Bristol 9-8 in a tense semi-final tie.
