A MOTORIST from Appleby was air lifted to hospital by Air Ambulance after suffering a suspected collapsed lung in a serious car smash at Hoff Lunn on Sunday afternoon.

The man was air lifted to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle with chest injuries after the silver Peugeot 306 estate he was driving collided with a red Subaru Impreza on the B62620 at 12.40pm.

A female passenger in the Peugeot was also taken to CIC by ambulance with back injuries.

The driver of the Subaru, from Dufton, was also taken to CIC by ambulance with "superficial" injuries to his face, said a Cumbria Police spokesman.
