LAST June the Citizen published my letter expressing concern about the amount of litter, plastic bottles and the like accumulating on the cycle path side of the River Lune close to the Millennium Bridge.
Nothing has been done to tidy up this area which is overlooked by many residents and people using the bridge and cycleway. In fact the problem has multiplied.
I don't believe it is safe for individuals or residents to venture onto this land and so the help of the council will be required, providing perhaps a skip and possibly a small machine to take the rubbish away.
I read in the Green View' publication distributed to residents that new initiatives are to begin, with £25,000 earmarked in next year's budget for deep cleaning' areas every year. Maybe some of that could be used to clear up this mess because it's not going away by an act of god!
Can we be assured that this eyesore will be dealt with before summer arrives, as it looks like a tip?
Michael Dillon, Lancaster.
