THANKS to the people who responded to my appeal for e-mail's opposing Lancaster City Council's plans for a residents' parking scheme in the Primrose and Bowerham areas of the city.
I am now certain that the level of opposition to such a scheme vastly outweighs the tiny minority who actually want to see one introduced.
As a result I have written to the city's head of engineering services to inform him of my findings and to ask what are the council's intentions.
Quite simply, if the council wishes to press on with its plans to introduce a scheme, I will be forced start a petition against it and would like to assure everyone concerned that they will be able to have their say.
I am not a politician but I believe in right and wrong and will gladly go door-to-door to collect signatures, if that is what it takes.
What the council has done is carried out a poll that relied on letters being delivered to homes in the area and people taking the time to return a slip. The majority of people that do that are always the ones in favour of a scheme.
If the Council wished to know the truth behind the opposition it should have knocked on doors instead of pushing letters through them.
Sean Kelly, Lancaster.
