AN opportunity to recapture the sounds and memories of a bygone era comes to Morecambe Dome next month - when the Nick Ross Orchestra presents Sounds of Glenn Miller'.
A classic big band line-up of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, a rhythm section and singers will faithfully recreate the sound of the 1940s with a repertoire featuring hits from Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Ted Heath, Artie Shaw, Woody Herman, Les Brown, Benny Goodman and Stan Kenton among others.
Nick Ross was born in 1961 in Suffolk and studied piano with Prof Hannah Ellis, and then, in his teens, music with Colin Blackburn.
In the late 70s he joined a local dance band, and by the early 80s led his own band on summer season, hotel and cruise line contracts.
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of VE Day in 2005, the orchestra is on a 50-date celebration tour.
The concert at the Dome is on Saturday, March 5, at 7.30pm and tickets costing £12 are from the box office on 01524-582803.
