AN opportunity to join in with a completely unique voice project is coming soon to the Platform in Morecambe.
Orchestra Vox is a totally new community choir specialising in using the voice in a non traditional way.
Each voice in the choir' will be used an instrument producing weird and wonderful sounds to create fantastic musical colours and textures.
Singers and non-singers - shouters, groaners, moaners and squealers - are all welcome to join what is being billed as a challenging and exciting' musical adventure.
The choir will become part of a new commission called Shifting Sands by composer Howard Haigh, which is inspired by the many images of Morecambe Bay.
Several local choirs and three schools are already signed up for the project which will need 150 voices to work alongside music provided by Lava and Off the Rails.
Howard Haigh is a local composer working from a classically trained background and has previously been commissioned to write material for the Royal Ballet and the Crouch End Singers for a performance at the Barbican in London.
Funding for the project is coming from the Arts Council and Lanc-aster City Council Weekly rehearsals are planned to start at the Platform on Monday, April 4, leading will to two performances of a concert on May 14 and 15.
For more details and to take part, call Jon Harris at Lancaster arts and events on 01524-582801 or email jharris@lancaster.gov.uk.
Voices from all age groups and all sections of the community are needed - you do not need to be a good singer.
