PLANS for a contro-versial phone mast in Morecambe have won the green light from planners.
But angry locals say city councillors have got it wrong - and set a dangerous precedent.
It was the third time that mobile phone giants Vodaphone had sought consent for the monopole'phone mast on Marine Drive, Slyne-with-Hest.
The first two plans one even outlining the mast disguised as a cypress tree were rejected.
But residents say their objections have been worth it because the size of the mast has been dramatically reduced from an original 70-feet tall.
Says local man John Edwards: "We are not happy but there is not as much concern about the visual amenity as before - more about the precedent it will set.
"Other mobile phone operators will need their own masts and so how do we stop a forest of them in the area now this application has been granted?"
