RUBBISH piled up at the front of a property in Morecambe is not another tip but a bid to make a set of decent homes.
Craig Property Management, in the resort, has cleared out three flats on Hornby Terrace and says it has every intention of moving the heap of rubbish which contains furniture and toys in a few weeks.
Last week Kathleen Palmer, a resident on Hornby Terrace, told the Citizen that she was sick and tired' of looking at the mess.
But Keith Craigie, of the Victoria Street firm, says the rubbish was never going to be there forever but will be shifted when the work to revamp the flats is complete.
He says it makes financial sense' for the company to clear the rubbish all at one time.
Says Mr Craigie: "We had to evict the last tenant because they never paid rent and were a problem. They left most of their personal possessions and so we had to remove them so that work could be done in the flats.
"We are fully aware that there are materials awaiting disposal at Horby Terrace. We have spoken to the contractors regarding the amount and timing of construction waste and made visits to ensure there is no food or degradable which may be a hazard.
"We have already been contacted by our tenant at the property who is very upset at the statement made by Mrs Palmer."
He says work should be complete in the next two weeks, adding: "If Mrs Palmer wants to come into the office we can give her a run down of the project and tell her exactly what is happening."
Mrs Palmer says she hopes that he will have the waste shifted soon but says she will not hold her breath'.
"I have spoken to them a few times and have been told that it will be moved but it has not. I ran flats for 30 years and I understand that he has to do them up, but I never created a mess like that that people have to look at."
