A KENDAL windsurfer was helped to shore on Saturday by Barrow's inshore lifeboat after she lost her board in high seas.
A resident alerted the coastguard after spotting Joanne McDonald clinging to the side of a moored yacht near Roa Island.
The lifeboat, crewed by Jon Long, Andy Baxter and Chris Moore, was quickly on the scene and picked up Ms McDonald. She had managed to climb into the yacht and was uninjured.
Lifeboat operations manager Ron Nuttall praised the swift rescue operation which took twenty minutes from start to finish.
