Kendal's Castle Green Hotel has been crowned hotel of the year by Best Western, which has more than 300 hotel members nationwide.
The Castle Green came top in a national scheme measuring hotel performance in the previous year, based on quality standards, customer feedback and brand commitment.
Managing director Tim Rumney said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive the award, it's a tremendous testament to the hotel team's hard work and professionalism."
Best Western GB chief executive David Hayes said the Castle Green was a shining example to all hoteliers of the standards that could be achieved through understanding guests' requirements and attention to detail.
