A FORMER chairman of Windermere Parish Council (now town council), Richard Ogden, died on Wednesday.
Mr Ogden, who was vice chairman at the time of his death, led the council in both 2001 and 2002, after being elected to represent Bowness South in 1997.
The Mayor of Windermere, Coun Pat Holmes, said: "We have lost a dedicated councillor. I speak for all members of Windermere Town Council. His commitment and achievements cannot be measured but will always be appreciated and remembered by us."
