IT WAS as if salt was being rubbed in the wound. Hard on the heels of Inland Revenue threats that if tax for 2004/5 was not paid by January 31 came a form with the code for 2005/6.
The Inland Revenue is insatiable and we are on as ghastly treadmill; they would strip us bare if they could.
Like snake oil salesmen, Labour and Lib/Dem politicians try to gull us with give us your wallets and every good thing will be yours'. They must think us daft.
Fortunately, at the eleventh hour, the Conservative Party has set out a plan whereby it can run the place more efficiently, running up less expense and cutting taxes so the burden on business can be lessened and money can fructify in our own pockets. If the electorate doesn't go for it, it will deserve the misery to come.
Dr J Findlater, Silverdale.
