A FLASHY affair is planned at a Morecambe primary school as a pilot safety scheme - the first in Lancashire - gets underway.
High-tech electronic road signs will be lit up this week outside Westgate Primary School as part of a scheme to improve road safety for pupils.
Flashing 20mph signs will activate when pupils are crossing.
Head teacher Steve Robinson says: "The school is fully supportive of any moves to get children walking and cycling to school - but parents have to know the roads are safe.
"We already do pedestrian training, cycle safety training and have a walking bus to school. Anything that complements those strategies deserves support."
